What to do next when the brake warning light comes?

If the light comes when you start driving from a stop, it could be simply the parking brake is engaged. Disengage the parking  brakes and the problem should be settled in no time.

But, if the light comes on when you are driving, find a safe area and stop your vehicle. Turn the engine off and wait for a few minutes. Next, check your brake fluids. If this is below the minimum level in the reservoir, you might need to top up with the manufacturer recommended brake fluids. Restart your vehicle and see if the light turns off. If the light is gone, you can continue driving the car.

But if the light is continuously on, you might need to take the car to a garage to get the problem sorted out. Since your car might not have enough braking power, you might need to tow your car instead of driving it.
