Master warning light dashboard indicator

Master Warning Light

Sure you must have seen a triangular warning light with an exclamation mark inside on your dashboard. This is known as the master warning light. This light is yellow or amber colored and indicates that there is one or more problems detected in the car.  It could be a simple problem (like an opened door) or serious engine trouble (like low engine oil).

When the master warning light comes, the other dashboard indicators relevant to the actual problem should also light alongside with the master waring light. It gives you an idea where the real problem is in the car.

How to turn off the  master warning light?

Master warning light should turn off once the problem is addressed. See what other additional indicators are lit on the dashboard and address those problems. You might need to use your owner's manual to know what those other indicators are for.

Can I drive with the master warning light on?

You should not drive with the master warning light on unless it is a really important journey. You must first identity the cause for the light and try to address those problems first. It could sometimes be a serious problem like low oil pressure which could really harm the engine if you continue to drive.
